Sensory disturbances associated w/ diabetic polyneuropathy.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 30 min before meals. Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ a certain human leukocyte antigen genotype are more prone to development of insulin autoimmune syndrome when treated w/ thioctic acid. Sugar intolerance. Pregnancy. Should not be taken while breast-feeding. Should not be given to childn & juveniles.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, stomach & intestinal pain, diarrhoea, skin rash, urticaria, itching, vertigo, sweating, headache, visual disturbances.
Drug Interactions
May diminish effect of cisplatin. May potentiate hypoglycemic effect of insulin or oral antidiabetics. May cause chelation w/ metal compd (eg, Fe prep, Mg prep, milk products). Avoid alcohol.
